"I pray that my voice, my music, is first and foremost a deep expression of my love for Christ; I pray that my testimony is one of pure devotion and honest reflection; and above all I pray that I am a 'sweet aroma of Christ,' emitting the fragrance and beauty of Christ among believers and unbelievers alike (II Corinthians 2:14-15)."
As a Christian musician, I am not a performer. Rather, I am a vessel that God uses to bring hearers to a deeper and more intimate knowledge of God. When I think of myself as a performer, I automatically rely on my own strength and ability to entertain and move an "audience." If I view my role as an empty vessel, then God's Spirit can fill me and inspire those who have come to worship with me.
