Alyssa lives in the Texas Panhandle with her husband of 10 years and their two sons. She is a native of Stuart, Florida. She attended Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida, where she majored in Music Performance and Religion. She graduated in 1994 with a BA in Religion and went on to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. While in Fort Worth, she performed in King's Praise, the Seminary's premier touring vocal ensemble. In 1998, she was a featured soloist and cast member with The Promise, an epic musical drama depicting the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. That same year, she earned her Master's degree in Church and Community Ministries.
In the Fall of 1999, while Alyssa was a member of Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth, a deranged gunman opened fire in a crowded Wednesday Night worship service, killing seven and wounding seven more. Although she was not in the building, this experience had a dramatic impact on her faith. Like many others who have experienced this kind of tragedy, she questioned the purpose and providence of God. In time, she came to treasure the Biblical promise that God causes all things to work together for good, for those who love him, who are called according to His purpose.
In addition to her primary calling as a wife and mother, Alyssa feels a profound sense of calling both as a musician and as a minister of the Gospel. Since 1999, she has remained actively involved in music ministry. God has provided many opportunities for her to share her message with church groups and organizations. Her mission is to exhort other Christians to love and serve Christ with passion and fervor. She is driven to share the joy and hope that comes from a deep, abiding relationship with Christ.
